OUR MISSION
At Santa Cruz People's Kitchen, we believe that:

A hot, home-cooked meal is a right to all.

Everyone deserves warm, comfortable clothing.
​
NOBODY should ever have to go without the basic necessities of food, water, shelter and comfort.
​
The recent compounding tragedies of the COVID-19 pandemic and the CZU Lightning Complex Fire have left hundreds of people unsheltered and food-insecure. Mutual aid and community care are more crucial today than ever before. Lives depend on access to this mutual aid.
OUR PROCESS
Food made by the people, for the people!
Santa Cruz People's Kitchen is committed to providing top quality home cooked meals to feed the vulnerable and food-insecure communities here in Santa Cruz County.
STEP 1: PREP
First we purchase the supplies, unpack and prep the ingredients. We precook the pasta, assemble the large baking trays and pie tins and set up the hygiene goodie bags and other supplies. We ensure all trays are accounted for and get all the food ready to be cooked.
STEP 2: COOK
We deliver the prepped trays directly to folks who signed up to bake the food right in their own homes. We give you all the cooking info needed, and once they are baked, we can pick up the cooked trays, or you can drop them off at our assemble location.
STEP 3: ASSEMBLE
We meet up at our assembly location to gather all cooked trays and supplies. We blast music and with smiles and dance moves we efficiently pack individual meal containers with all prepared food items. We also pack up all the hygeine bags and load all supplies into the cars.
STEP 4: DISTRIBUTE
Distribution is everyone's favorite final step! We drive directly to local camps and communities and we distribute the hot meals and supplies directly to our unhoused community. We follow strict COVID precautions and ensure to treat all community members with equal dignity and respect.
